A jelly good time.

We're an all-gender, strictly casual, community kickball club in the heart of the Deerfield Valley. We're open to adults possessing positive vibes and a sliver or two of spunk.

Make new friends, grab a beverage, and have a ball.

Come as you are

If you’re over 21 and can kick a ball, you’ve met the requirements. This ain’t the big—or even minor—leagues; we’re here for fun.

Close to home

No need to drive to The Big City. We play right in the middle of the Valley, at beautiful Town Hill Park in Whitingham, Vermont.

Work and play

Working a 9-to-5? No worries. We roll evenings and/or weekends. Retirees welcome, but early retirement not required.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I just show up at a game?

No. Teams are assigned ahead of each game, so members must sign up first in the Member Portal. If you aren’t yet a member, please contact us to join the club or get more information.

  • How much does it cost?

Nothing! The best things in life really are free.

  • Are there age limits?

You’ll need to be at least 21 years old to play with us. There’s no upper age limit; if you can play kickball, come play kickball with us!

  • How often do you meet?

We aim to schedule a game every other week, alternating between Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. We meet on evenings (and occasionally weekends) to accommodate those with jobs.

  • Do I have to live in the Valley?

Nope, you just need to get here. Our current members are from Whitingham, Jacksonville, Wilmington, Dover, Halifax, and Readsboro.

  • Where do you meet?

We play at Town Hill Park in Whitingham, Vermont.

  • What should I bring to the games?

A good attitude and a desire to make friends. Water and/or other beverages. Sturdy shoes are a good idea. Bug spray or sunscreen.

  • Is this a league?

No. We’re strictly casual, and teams change with each game. We don’t play games against other kickball organizations, though we may explore competitive play as we become more seasoned players.

  • Are there any nearby leagues?

Yep! There’s a kickball league being run this summer in Brattleboro.

  • Can I bring my kids?

We’re an adults-only (21+) group, so only adults are eligible to play. But, supervised kiddos are certainly welcome in the stands!

  • Can I bring my pet?

They’d probably be happier at home. Otherwise, furry friends must remain leashed, according to Parks Committee rules.

  • How do I know what’s happening, and when?

Members have access to a discussion list; you can subscribe via email from the Member Portal. Our schedule is available above.

  • Can I drink at Town Hill Park?

We’re not aware of any laws prohibiting alcohol on town property. While consumption of alcoholic beverages is fine, we’re here to play, not get plastered. And, please don’t drink and drive.

  • Do we wear uniforms or jerseys?

We’ll consider that in the future; for now, to keep it no-cost, we’ll differentiate teams by wearing either black or white shirts.

  • What are the rules of the game?

We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but it’s not a game without rules. We mostly follow the World Kickball Association rules.

  • Do I need any athletic skills?

You’ll need to be able to run between the bases of a standard softball field, and be able to kick, catch, and throw a 10-inch rubber jelly ball—but that’s about it. All skill levels are welcome.

  • What if I can’t, or don’t want to, play?

Just looking to make some new friends? If you can’t (or don’t want to) play, but still want to join us, consider being our umpire, scorekeeper, announcer, or (well-intentioned) shit-talker in the stands.

  • How are teams formed?

Team members will be randomly assigned and announced ahead of each game, though we’ll try to balance teams by sex.

  • Are teams co-ed?

Yes. People of all genders and no gender can play kickball with us.

  • Do I have to try out for a team?

No. Everyone who wants to play will be assigned to a team.

  • Where can I park?

There’s plenty of parking along both sides of Town Hill Road. Please park in the designated areas and not on the lawn.

  • Are there any rules for using Town Hill Park?

Yes, and you can find them here. Please be courteous, share the facilities with others who may be present, and clean up your trash.

  • Do you have the softball field reserved?

Town Hill Park’s facilities are first-come, first-served, with no reservation system. That said, we coordinate with the Parks Committee and post our schedule to avoid conflicts.

  • What happens in the event of inclement weather?

If the forecast is looking grim a few days before a game, we’ll reschedule; you can use the Member Portal to adjust your commitment to playing, if you can’t make the rescheduled game. For unexpected bad weather, we’ll send an email cancellation as early as possible, but no later than 4:30 PM on game day.

  • Do you have a code of conduct?

No, but in a nutshell: don’t be an asshole. Players displaying chronic unsportsmanlike or abusive behavior may be asked to leave the club.

  • Do I have to sign a waiver or release?

We’re not lawyers. If you are, and you get hurt, just remind yourself that you were playing voluntarily and at your own risk. More seriously, though: no one else in the group is responsible for your safety. You assume any and all risks by attending an event, and agree to hold club organizers harmless against any and all damages that may arise.
